STAGG Biography
STAGG is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who’s unique fusion of nu-folk bridges his roots in Scottish traditional music and the many influences of his worldly adventures. His distinctive vocals, evocative lyricism and innovative musicality, often featuring the accordion, span timeless folk and contemporary pop.
Gigging since the age of 15 in pubs and ceilidhs around his hometown of Inverness, STAGG went on to attend Plockton Music School for traditional music. On leaving Scotland, he spent 2 years traveling in Canada, the USA and Mexico as a street musician, picking up gigs and connecting with local music scenes as he went. He has played esteemed venues and festivals such as House of Blues and Viper Room in Los Angeles, Celtic Connections, the Edinburgh Fringe and Lightning in a Bottle Festival in California.
During lockdown, STAGG made a visual album, 3.0, combining his passion for visual design in a 36 minute video of 9 songs performed solo, completely live and edited DIY with hand-drawn visuals.
In recent months, STAGG has been taking his arrangements to the next level with a trio featuring percussion and violin. Having recorded a live video session of 4 tracks in March 2022, they continue to rehearse and gig around their base in London, while preparing their Tour of Scotland in September 2022.
